Default Spare tire question

I just purchased a 2013 JKU and put 35"s on it with XD wheels. I have a full size spare and purchased the smittybilt oversized tire mount. However the tech at 4wheelparts told me that the factory mount is rated for the weight and height of the 35" spare. I know other people have had problems With the plastic breaking, but my mount is metal. Just wondering if anyone has any input so I can take back that smittybilt mount and get my $$$ back thanks.

Regular use is fine if ur plan to go offroad alot then I think it will stress the frame which will cause the plastic to break ... Got a friends one which broke while he was offroading

I'll quote Harry "Do you feel lucky, well do you ..." Is this a temp solution? do you plan to go with a tire carrier later? Two issue: long term stress on the hinges causes the door to droop and off road bumps and drops really stress the mountings locations on the door.

Depends how hard you are on it. Mainly street, it would probably last awhile. If you go this route, make sure to get extended bump stops to keep the tire from moving.

1 3/4 radiator hose, cut to the length you need and install over existing bumps.

Their website says they're polyurethane...I've never used them though, so can't give any first hand knowledge. I'm not sure who else make some.
