They should be good to go then. I know they used to make some that were painted foam, and just fell out. Complete junk

The little tit that pushes into the tailgate tears off toooooo easily. Waste of $20.

X 2 mine fell off when I took tire off.

Gonna go with the a plumbing no-hub on top of stock bushing. Someone else posted it a while back. Sees like it should work great.

I am using the oem one without problems but i take my spare off when I wheel... b/c of the backspacing of the aftermarket rims I had to extend my bump stops so the tire sits kind of far out.

If you already have the smittyl built carrier I would just install that b/c it will move the tire closer into your tailgate. I might end up going that route or get the teraflex, I haven't decided yet. I view using the OEM one as a temporary solution.

edit: for my bump stop extensions I just bought some rubber pipe couplers from home depot and put them on the end of the OEM bumpers:

I hear the daystars are junk.

Thanks everyone for the input, thinking about just getting some bump extenders and holding out for a nicer spare carrier. My JKU is my DD and I don't have to much time to wheel as it is.

Play it safe and start thinking about some type of carrier sooner than later. If the hinges don't fail, the spot welds on the tailgate may.

Good idea on the extensions.
