Hi all.
My stability control light is now on all the time.
What has happened is that I replaced my broken nexsteer steering box with a Delphi box. At the same time I added some front lower control arms.
The shop that installed it has said that the wheel is dead centre and that the light is on because the new box is a jku box which is different gearing to my jk?
Has anyone come across this issue before? I'm scanned for codes (none) with my superchips tuner but I was going to get the stealership to scan it anyway?
Should I try adjusting the trackbar or not?

Is the new box the same ratio as old one ? That might be the prob..! Don't think the CA's would be any issue.

 

Try centering your steering wheel again. The steering parts are the same 2 dr and 4 dr.

 

Incorrect, the 2dr and 4dr do have different steering ratios.

 

I think the new box is a different ratio to the old box

 

So that sounds it will be tripping the dashboard light then?

 

So it appears I was incorrect about the steering boxes...the 2dr and 4dr are different.

I understand the 2dr has a slower ratio due to the shorter wheelbase and the 4dr has a faster ratio due to longer wheelbase.

Using a 2dr box in a 4dr should not cause issue but using a 4dr box in a 2dr could cause issue.


So two things come to mind....double check your steering wheel for center and check for damage to the clock spring. If the steering wheel wasn't tied off during the steering box replacement and the wheel moved it could have damaged the clock spring.

 

Thanks. I would possibly be a 4dr in a 2dr but the steering if anything is definitely slower and heavier than before with my old box.

 

So went to the stealer ans they plugged in the laptop. Turns out the wheel is out 361 degrees. Cant believe the clock spring isn't broken.
Hopefully the light goes off when I fix this
