Default State (us) laws impacting altered-height vehicles

I saw this on another car forum (aircooled VW) and don't remember ever seeing this here.
I thought some people might be interested in these rules

In quebec, for the JK's, a lift more than 4" is illegal.
In reality, many have 5" - 6" and there is no problem. The police looks at the other modifications.
A few years ago, a Jeeper put a 24" body lift on a YJ Has been stopped the first day on the road.

im just going to pretend i didnt see this... (walks away slowly) lol

mass has some silly math formula to calc how high you can go but states at the end "Maximum height of any vehicle not to exceed 13’ 6” " so were good

From what I have been told by the local highway patrol all laws are enforced on the state your vehicle is registered in. For example if you live in a state with no regulations and on vacation go to a state where your bumper is too high they can not enforce the law since the vehicle is not registered there.

I wonder if they measure from the top or bottom of the bumper?.....funny thing is MD says bumper no more than 20" and yet it says tail light is 20".....

Normally from the lowest part of the bumper.
