State (us) laws impacting altered-height vehicles
I saw this on another car forum (aircooled VW) and don't remember ever seeing this here.
I thought some people might be interested in these rules

In quebec, for the JK's, a lift more than 4" is illegal.
In reality, many have 5" - 6" and there is no problem. The police looks at the other modifications.
A few years ago, a Jeeper put a 24" body lift on a YJ
Has been stopped the first day on the road.

From what I have been told by the local highway patrol all laws are enforced on the state your vehicle is registered in. For example if you live in a state with no regulations and on vacation go to a state where your bumper is too high they can not enforce the law since the vehicle is not registered there.
