I put a set of these on my CJ about a year and a half ago.

They are fantastic. I tried everything I could to pull the tire off the rim and couldn't. It also made the balancing of the 35x13.5x15's easier for some reason, they took less weight.

The tires had a great footprint at 4 psi......

Depends on state law. In Texas if it is not DOT approved it is illegal.

I bought DadsCJ's old CJ last year, and wanted to confirm his position on the Stauns.

I ripped the outer valve stem clear off the rim on the top of Helicopter Pad at the Tellico ORV area in March. Since I had left the spare tire at the cabin, a solid 90 minutes away, I chose to test the bead locks. I drove down Helicopter Pad and Gaurdrail (bypasses but still quite Hairy at 0 PSI). Drove all the way back to the cabin, and never broke the bead, or even hit the rim. The Staun's do act like a run flat, and saved my group hours of time. In retrospect, I would have probably continued to wheel that day had I known how great those beadlocks worked.

Stauns are a nice piece of gear, good choice.

Now as for "traditional" beadlocks being illegal:
SHOW ME A TICKET !!
There has been cash on the line for numerous forums I have been to for someone to post up a ticket for running beadlocks.

So either post up or shut up.

My rim shells are DOT approved, I can buy DOT approved SHELLS (no center) and weld in my own center. No one has proven FOR A FACT that traditional beadlocks are illegal. So stop spreading the internet rumors.
And before anyone even says "well ******* says not to run their beadlocks on the street so it must be illegal" No. they say that to cover their butts in a sue happy America.
