Default Steering Box Questions

Last night we were out offroading. Im now 0 and 2 on the night runs. I had a good hit on the passenger side tire. My steering wheel is now sitting about 90 degrees rotated left. I checked the tie rod and drag link and they look perfectly fine. I checked the sector shaft and it also looks fine. I may pull the pitman arm for a better look though. No control arms bent or moved. The shat that goes from the steering wheel to the steering box also looks fine. It weird as I get no esp/bas light like you normally would when you knock the wheel out of alignment. It tracks fine down the road, but i do get a slight wobble now on bumps i didnt get before. Tonight I will be digging into this until I find it and indepthly looking into it. My question that came to mind: Is it possible for the box itself or possibly something inside the jk behind the steering wheel to maybe "skip gears" allowing the esp/bas to still think the wheel is centered when it may not be? To me that wouldnt explain the wobble, but im just looking for any input someone may have experienced before i look into this.

no something is def out of whack on the linkage or shaft. I had the same issue and chased everything but the sector shaft. When I removed the brace sure as sh!t the splines were twisted. What type of steering linkage are you running?

That happened to me once but it ended up being my drag link. Had a slight curve in it that went the entire length of the shaft - it was hardly noticeable until I compared it to another jk. I too thought it was my sector shaft. Even had a shop inspect it and told me that they were sure I twisted my sector shaft or something in my box.

Yeah i have to look at that. It looked fine on the little i could see on top, but may be bent. Do you think the splines being twisted would move the steering wheel 90 degrees though? As for the drag link mines 1.5dom x 1/4 wall and "seems" ok from my quick inspection. Im also assuming the sector shaft may be a cause of a slight wobble on bumps?

Oh yea I'll try to get pics of my old box tomorrow for you. Check to see where you pitman sits with the wheel straight. Mine was way off. You can compensate with a stock drag link cause there's so much adjustment. But when I got a synergy DL that's when I realized it was my box

I bet your spline would only have to be twisted a few degrees for your steering wheel to be out of whack that much. If you think about it, you turn your steering wheel 2.5 turns in relation to your sector only making a half a turn.

Ok will look at that, for some reason i didnt look to hard at the pitman arm when I was looking at the sector shaft. Im not great with the sector shaft part of the steering box, im assuming it will be ok to drive for a bit until I get it fixed?

thats true. I clearly didnt think some of this thru fully in the middle of the night on the trail...I just di a quick check to make sure I could get home, then went to bed, planning on fully looking into it tonight and over the weekend.
