Steering problem
I need help!!! I have a 07 2 dr with 22000 miles on it. I have a 4" rough country lift with a rough country dual steering stabilizer and running 35's. Everything has been runnig good until my last wheeling trip. I went rock crawling this past weekend. I aired down like usual wheeled all weekend and Sunday I aired back up and headed home. On the way home the steering was very tight and it tried to steer itself. At all speeds its hard to handle especially at speeds over 50 mph. When I hit 50-65 the steeringis really bad, the jeep goes all over the road when I try to get it out of a swerve I try to steer back the other way and it takes a second and turns hard I have to turn the wheel the other way and expierance the same thing. Its so bad its almost a death wobble. I checked all the suspension everything looks alright and the esp light is not on. Also sometimes when I hit the brakes the traction light will come on and the jeep takes over. Hope yall understand the problems i'm having and have an idea what is going on.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
That sounds like a tie rod problem - you've probably bent your tie rod and have excessive toe-in, causing oversteer problems.
Check to see if your tie rod is straight. It should be straight on the vertical axis, with no rise or fall when viewed from the front.
If it looks slightly taco'd that's likely your problem.
It will have a bulge/curve on the right hand side on the horizontal axis, this is to clear the differential, but that will not be visible when you are looking straight on.
The ESP light would be coming on because your steering wheel is no longer centered relative to wheel direction, due to the change in geometry from the shortened (taco'd) tie rod, so the jeep thinks you're in a skid when you are not.

what both lcs-150 and HUNTER said. check your tie rod for sure but a blown steering stabilizer that's seized up will do what you just described as well. pull them off of one end and see if you can cycle them, if not, there's your problem.
