Steering problem
I have an '08 2dr X. I've driven it 6 mths w/stock tires and wheels and Spidertax 1.5 spacers w/no problems. One week ago I had a set of 285/70/17 BFG/AT's installed w/alignment. Drives ok on good road but if it's rough or sunken it darts everywhere.
Was ready to order lift but need this resolved first. Everything else is stock.
If you guys have any ideas I would love to hear them. [oh yeah, running 30 psi in tires]
Thanx

With everything stock I would take it back and have the shop that put the tires on the wheels rebalance them. You may also change the air pressure up or down and see if the ride gets better.
I have had this same exact problem ever since switching from my stock tires to Goodyear silent armor all terrains. I have tried everything, installing lower adj control arms, tightening the whole suspension, balance, alignment, beefier stabilzer and it never gets any better. Feels like each bump is kicking my suspensions ass. Finally I gave up.

good luck
I dont know about u but in my case the jeep tracks perfect so its the the alignment, I'm wondering if its just the tires being stiffer and the tread on a stock jeep. I'm thinking since most with aftermarket tires have lifts they dont feel the bumps so much?
Thanx for the replies. On the interstate it drives fine. When I picked it up it had 45 lbs in the tires and was like driving a basketball. Dropped to 35lbs then to 30 lbs. That worked wonders for the ride but didn't help the flighty steering. I guess I had better take it back to the tire dealer 'cause I don't think a 1" height and width increase should cause all this. I'll repost if I find anything out. Once again, thanks a lot...
[alignment seems good and steering wheel is centered. guess I should have waited on this 'till lift was installed! duh!]
