Steering Stabilizer
what is a steering stabilizer and do i need one?? I have got an 09 unlimited x with a 4" suspension lift and 35x12.50 tires... since i got the bigger tires i have noticed its a little more difficult to turn the steering wheel, dont know if thats a power steering issue or if i need a steering stabilizer..
You have one, it's the thing that looks like a shock absorber attached sideways down on the axle. (it isn't outlined, but you can just see it on the right side of the axle - left side of this pic.)

Just below the 'green' Tie Rod, and above and to the left of the 'dark blue' Lower Control Arm...

I does not necessarily have to be bigger but a new aftermarket SS should make a big difference in the ride. I have 2.5" lift with 35's and could not believe the change when I swapped mine for the Teraflex SS.
I would only replace it when it breaks.
It does not make steering easier. It just dampens bumps and vibrations.
When mine broke, I would get a slight shimmy when I hit bumps. It also felt a little loose. When I removed it, there was about 2 inches of play before it dampened anything.

I like the very colorful outlined explanation of the parts under a Jeep.

. Colors are nice. Lol, I feel like a kid in kindergarten again trying to learn diagrams. But yeah Cruiser, you don't need a steering stabilizer/dampener or w/e you want call it yet. I mean, it's pretty cheap so I guess you could invest in it if you want to, but it's not necessary. But hey, I'd buy it just so I can put something in my signature as an upgrade besides decals

The steering stabilizer helps dampen the side to side wobble associated with bumps.
The difficulty you are having turning the wheel is associated with the larger tires and your power steering pump. You could check the fluid level and even take it to the dealer if it is getting too bad. I have 37's and my power steering pump does not have any problems assisting me with turning the wheel.
