Ok I have read all the helpful threads and followed the instructions to extreme detail. I've done the "dance" probably 15 times with no luck. I'm serious about to cut that purple and light blue wire under the dash and call it a day( ESP killswitch). But why isn't the "dance" working? I have an 07 jkX 4" lift with 37's. Help me.

 

It's annoying as hell but stick with it. you will get it. It took a lot of patience but I got it there.

 

Would it be a good idea to just cut the wire and leave it hang open until my mechanic brother can add a switch?

 

From what i remember, the steering wheel dance doesnt work on 07's....you would have to bring it to the dealer for a software upgrade to have the ability to do it.....a few dealers here refused to do it for me....thus i went for the ol esp kill switch, and never looked back.......flick a switch, and it's done, then have fun

 

Thanks rubisteve! I think I'm just going to have a switch on it then. I've heard of the software update. I bought my 07 used so I'm not sure if it had this update or not. Worth looking into getting it or leave it the way it is?

 

What is the point of putting a switch in it. If you are doing this to kill the esp why not just cut the wires and cap them off???

 

The switch allows you to keep it a secret from your jeep dealer that u altered the jeep. Helps keep your warranty. And.... I guess having the option off turning it back on.

 

forsure, if you just cut the wires, it will leave everything disabled forever, which I do not encourage, and you would not have the ability to turn back on important functions like ABS.....also, you would have the 3 lights on in your dash constantly....on demand disable is the way to go....if you are going to cut the wires and cap, why not install a switch? makes sense, and only 10-20 mins longer if that.....

 

The only time I use my disable switch, is when wheeling or wanting to play (drifting, donuts, specially in the snow etc.) I prefer to leave all OEM safety features on while driving the rest of the time.

 

have you started it on step four?
have you tried turning slightly past the 180 degree mark?
have you tried holding at the 180 mark fora split second or so?

try that and see if it works.
