Stinger vs. hoop
so i went with the arb with bull bar
Put me in the "I don't care for the look of stingers" camp. But that shouldn't deter anyone who doesn't agree. I also think the stock fenders are the best looking fenders out there, and buying aftermarket fenders is a waste of money if done purely for aesthetics. But, stingers, like aftermarket fenders, do have their benefits. However, let me point out one negative that I didn't pick up on in this thread: Not only will a stinger restrict you when parking, it has the potential to cause problems when wheeling tight turns in heavy brush/forest.

stingers are for deep cravasse crossings or if you are going down a steep grade and start to go end over end. A hoop is more for a roll over situation where you want to protect the radiator. I have a hoop and love it; low profile. Plus according to the owners manual unless your going down something greater than 60 degrees which by the way is scary steep you won't go end over end anyway
In NYC everyone plays bumper tag (eg. nudging the car in front/behind you to determine when you should stop) when parallel parking (which is why you see some cars with dorky looking rubber mats covering their bumpers - or a strip of corrugated rubber glued to their bumper - particularly dorky looking on a $30k+ car)... if you do get a parking spot I think a stinger will prevent the car in front from playing bumper tag :P
But, we actually use our Hi-Lifts on the trail EVERYTIME someone breaks something. The only way to get the Jeep high enough to have some clearance to work under it. I can't see why people don't use it.

Exactly, in my opinion. But if I were wheeling in Moab, I'd actually run one. Would I like it, no. But, I need it.

We use a big floor plate for the jack. Then, use jack stands to hold it up. While, placing the tires removed under the Jeep. We aren't retarded. There's guys in my club in their 50s and 60s and have been wheeling for decades. We aren't a bunch of teenagers d*cking around.
put me down for another that thinks 95% of the Stingers out there are useless, and will never get used. just my personal opinion. I couldn't stand to have a useless hoop stick out 2ft past my bumper!

I have seen stupid people out there so you never know.
