Nope, that part is clearly bent and is included in the original estimate. What I'm referring to runs from left to right across/attached to the frame rails.

Ok, found a picture online, not my Jeep, but this shows the bar I'm talking about... It's the u-shaped bar running across just under the frame rails...

It's not structural. Several manufacturers use it as the attachment point for a heavier-duty front skid plate. Some aftermarket bumpers require its trimming or removal alltogether.

Makes sense... my concern is that bar got bent forward on the opposite side of the bumper impact... which indicates to me the frame rail on the impact side moved inward and forced that bar to bend outward. It's not a major bend, but very obvious... probably not a difficult fix for the body shop, but I don't think it's anything I can do myself as I suspect bolting on a new bumper will be an issue when the holes don't line up...

Appreciate the input!!

Got the Wife's bumper all fixed up... The little run in with the pole ended up being over $4K in damage! Once the bumper came off the found that the crush point on the bumper was, well, crushed. So, they ended up replacing half of the frame rail on the passenger side.

Thanks to Collyn and the free bumper ( for the record, he let me pay him something for it. LOL)... I didn't have to pay my deductible since the bumper more than covered it... In fact I'm pretty sure the repair place probably made a little extra on this deal. That's ok, I didn't have to come out of pocket save for the nominal amount I paid Collyn.

The other upside is the front end must have been disassembled to some degree. They did an alignment as part of the repair and now the steering and over all feel is nice and tight again just like day one after the lift was installed.

Huge thanks to Collyn for offering the bumper! Happy Fishing man!
