Strange Noises?
So I have two interesting noises coming from the underside of the Jeep and it has me a little concerned so if ya'll could help diagnose the problem I would appreciate it.
Sound 1: Metallic whine is the best way to describe it. It almost sounds like the whine the power steering on a Ford makes but not nearly as loud and it occurs when Im on the gas only and its especially noticeable in turns. Does not seem to increase in speed or frequency under acceleration and appears to come from mid vehicle. I have checked all bolts on drag link, track bar, pitman, track bar and draglink flip and all are in proper torque settings. I have also checked Power steering fluid, trans fluid, and transfer case fluid and all seem good to go.
Sound 2: Popping/ clunking occurs under the front end randomly. Sounds like the drive shaft is binding or one of the suspension components is shifting. I recently installed an OR-FAB jerry can and tire carrier and I thought initially that the additional weight might be sagging the back and causing the front DS to bind a little due to the increased angle created, but I dismissed that theory on the grounds that it seemed ridiculous that a company would sell a product that would cause this, but now Im not so sure. It is not constant, and happens usually in turns and while accelerating even at slow speeds.
Well there it is guys. Ive used the search feature to no avail so I hope you more advanced gear heads can help me out. Thanks.
