Default Strap Winch instead of wire

Has anyone seen or have a strap winch? I've seen a few online, mostly for ATV's & boats though, but given I have a rescue strap that has a 20,000 lb rating and weighs a fraction that cable does, I would think there must be something out there besides cable winches. Besides weighing a lot less, I would think it would be safer too.

Steel cable is heavy and can be dangerous, but isnt that why they make synthetic winch line?

Something like that, I've seen a few that use the same type strap that's used for a rescue strap, ubt a synthetic would probably work as well. Is that just an aftermarket item or does anyone sell a winch with it already installed?

I think Ive seen mile marker's and ramsey's with synth on them in catalogs. But everyone Ive talked too just buys Viking synth line and rewraps themselves.

The only winches Ive seen that use straps have been hand crank ones for boats and atv's. Probably the same ones you were talking about.

Question Jack mate?

Doesn't the HiLift Jack come with something that you attach to the Jack and the tree and use the Jack to pull yourself out of the whatever?

If you mean "flat type" of strap line i have seen one in use. It was in one Defender winch few years ago. That time i had a steel cables in use.
Great point in this flat strap is that during a really hard and long pulls it will not get pulled tightly in between the lower wrap of line on winch drum. This sometimes is a problem with synthetic round profile line i am now using and means a trouble when you next time try to unspool it from drum. Sometimes i have to hook it to the tree after a tight pull and by using reverse to unspool it.
I have been searching also where i could find this flat type with equal strenght and low stretch but none has come up yet. When a day comes it´s availlable i will surely give it a try.
