I like it I agree with a couple of inches more on each side for the Just in Case factor. Corner gaurds and some LED's would definatly finish the look .... nice work

i like it as for corner protection corner gaurds with some 1/8 th inch flat steel welded to the bottom should make a good scraper if you do get a rock behind the rear

I'd love to help some of you guys and build a few of these tire carriers but frankly, I dont have much time on my hands and I can't handle another business right now. Perhaps a bumper fab guy might consider doing a few.... any out there?

As for corner protection, I have been looking at building a simple, high clearance, bolt-on rock guard and using AEV or Warrior's corner guard kit. Or maybe doing a comp cut and remove the corner all together....

Also for those that need gas cans, with a few adjustment, you can fit two of these Expedition One ultra thin gas cans in between tailgate and the tire carrier, mounted on the tailgate door. Very compact... https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...ion+one&page=5

Thumbs up wow

Looks good man. I like it. But if it was my Jeep, I would bend some small tube along the corners, just on the bottom of the corners and only the very top of the bumper, and put in some cross braces, it would look sweet as well...

Good job man. Too bad you don't got the time to make some more for everyone else, maybe put up a templete or somethin....

Nice work!
Yeah I saw the previous version of Rancho. I tried to made some improvements, particularily moving the hinge on top to avoid damage when backing up and coming down hard on the bumper. IMO, the rancho hinge and holding pin are vunerable. Also, the rancho one does not have D-ring shackle holders.

And...Mine cost a lot less than $409

As I said, I have been looking into some corner protection for some time now. I was thinking about something like this (but more aesthetic) and adding some corner guards:

Rock Guard

Corner Guard

Or more radical - Comp cut. I´m not too sure about this one....

I'am onboard with the concept. I will be showing this to a local fab shop to see what they think. The plastic on mine is already taking too much abuse and I have to get the tire off of the door. Metal is just too thin.

Someone should make these things. If priced right, I'm sure they would sell well.

VictorS,
Do you have a PIC witht the tire off that you would be willing to share.
