Stupid newbe question
I guess you should consider where you live and when you drive it. I'm in canada and i know with the guys here the bigger the tires get in width, the worse they handle in the snow/ice. That's something to consider. And the mileage. If its your daily with seldom off road action, you might want to keep them smaller. But then again its hard to say no to getting some big badass tires lol. Its all your own preference.

Running underpowered from NY to Orlando and back 6 times a year doesn't sound too fun.

Not directly related to your question but I thought I would add this.
My basketball coach used to say ... "Guys, there is NO SUCH THING AS A STUPID QUESTION! Only stupid people who ask questions. Now what were you asking?"

I went from 31"(stock sport tires) to 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers with Moto Metal wheels. Each wheel/tire combo was 50# heavier than stock. I was sureprised a how bad the Jeep runs now (auto, 3.73)! I spent a lot of time/money on power mods thinking I would be ok for a while. Went from a great running JK to one that downshifts out of od whenever a gust of wind comes up.
