My thought when I go to buy one was that I was going to get the Mopar version of the Fox SS.

Also what I read is that the problem tends to be that FOX has them overcharged and that the originals had valve stems mounted on the body where you could set your gas charge pressure amount. There have also been some who have added valves to the more recent version and have stated if you let the pressure down to 60psi, that seems to be a better setting as to what Fox ships them at. My hope is that maybe with the Mopar version Mopar set that pressure amount spec for Fox to follow and maybe the Mopar version doesn't have the same problem. All speculation but could be feasible. I've shopped around in the past and have found the Mopar Fox version for $125. That's more in my wheel house of what I'm willing to pay. |

Admittedly, I'm not out shopping for SS's, so I don't mind saying I've never noticed that unit before, or ever seen anyone with it. Very interesting. I'd almost lean towards thinking that if Jeep has put their name on that, it might be ok. I can't see them slapping the name on a gas charged unit that would not be suitable for that application for the reasons we already know. If that was a unit that really interested you, I think you'd be fine buying it given Amazon's easy returns. The real test would be simple in my mind.....take it out of the box and try to compress that sucker. If it's extremely hard to compress and re-extends quickly with much force, that's not what you're looking for, at which point you just return to Amazon saying it didn't work for you, and return shipping should be free.

in the photos below we're looking at the passenger side bracket. When I was trying to install the fox there is no way I could install it in the same orientation as the original because the cylinder was too large in diameter to line up the holes. I thought I could spin it 180 degrees but that bracket still got in the way when I tried to turn the tires to the right. There are several brackets made to relocate the stabilizer that moves it on top out of the way and avoid that bracket. This is my OME stabilizer. I already had an axle bracket from my 2011 Mopar lift. You can see the bracket on the bar is about an inch farther out than where the previous stabilizer mounted (where the marks are).

I'm in no hurry but likely will do this SS replacement some time this summer when the weather warms up but I think I need to make a phone call to someone at Fox prior. They just have too many SS out there for our JK's that it's too difficult to keep them all straight. |

The linked one that Resharp posted seems interesting to me. That's what I've read is that a common problem with the one you got is that the pressure is too high from Fox but the one with the valve could be adjusted by letting out some of the nitrogen from the valve.
