Can one be done for 10k or is 15k more realistic?

Yes, a diy swap can be done for $10,000. and change.

dsy did his swap himself.....as he posted above

I am just speaking from experience with a SC and now a HEMI...and it is well worth the wait and time spent saving all your nickel and dimes to get a HEMI...performance difference is not comparable !!

i was a nay'sayer about the ripp kit but i rode in "Hulkgreen"'s(another forum member) 4 dr this past weekend and that thing moves!!! i was amazed, feels like it has around 260'ish to the ground..i dont know how effective it is for off roading b/c its a vortech and really doesnt kick until 3k rpms...but as far as just total bad ass factor, its off the charts...

I'm guessing the Hulkster doesn't have as much weight??? (long-arm kit, 35" tires, real bumpers, tire carrier, rock sliders, belly skids, winch, etc...)

The part I'm confused about is the parts needed beyond the AEV kit which costs about 5k. I realize that there could be a major differnce in cost depending on whether you went with a crate engine and new tranny or used. And obviously if cost was an issue a 5.7 would be far cheaper than a 6.1. The one thing I haven't seen is the costs incurred beyond the motor, tranny and AEV kit; the "change" as it were.

Anybody care to enlighten me/us on that. I have confidence that I can do the swap myself. I can probably borrow a crane truck from work to lift the body off and roll the chassis back into the garage to work on.

I did the 5.7 for 10. AEV kit, new motor, used tranny. Misc needed parts add about $1,500 - 1.700. depending on where you source them from. I also converted from manual trans to auto.

....your FUNNY.....you do know the 3.8 liter when dyno'd comes up with less than 150 hp to the wheels (on 35's)...it's not seeing 260 to the crank...i guarantee it.........trust me if THAT feels like 260ish to the wheels then a 5.7 Hemi will feel like 500ish to the wheels .....sorry I just HAD to

Doesn't anyone with a Hemi live near anyone with a Supercharger? I'd love to see them go head to head. It's a bit of apples to oranges, but it would still be interesting.

How often do you guys with the supercharger drive above 3k RPM where it kicks in? I can see when climbing where it would make a huge difference when your RPMS hit the band where it makes the power, but daily driving or even highway driving with the exception of passing it wouldn't seem to be of much use.

yeah i did know that, but he isnt running 35's and has no real "extra" weight...plus he has some other bolt ons...sorry if my seat in the pants dyno is off...but if it makes you feel better ill say 240-260...i have a 02 mustang with a nitrous express direct port system, i dont think a 5.7 hemi will give me that feeling...
