So what's all this I read about the RIPP not kicking in until about 3k RPM's? I thought the advantage of a blower vs a turbo is that the blower kicks in sooner....no spool-up.

Does the RIPP not provide much power below 3k?

It starts providing power at lower rpm levels, but it is tuned to kick in harder at higher rpm levels.

If you run a high altitude pulley, it puts out higher psi, and more power.

Both my wife's and my JKs have RIPPs. Very happy with them.

What I don't like on 07-11 JKs is the automatic transmission, but my wife prefers wheeling with an automatic.

Thanks! This is the first I've read anything about what it does below 3k RPM's. From everything I read, it sounded like there was just nothing there. It's back on my list now.

I had a ripp in my 6spd 2 door and my auto 4 door. The sc provides good pull off the line. You definitely get more benefit out of it with a 6spd. Unfortunately the auto just sucks regardless of what forced induction system you have in it. For this reason I pulled my sc and am in the middle of an ls swap. Needed something that could tow my boat and utv comfortably on the hwy. I will say when my 4 door was stock I was quite pleased with how the sc performed. Add all the offroad goodies and 37's and performance changes drastically.

Planman, how do you like the slow rock crawling with the SC versus without? I am running 5.38s is a 2010 Rubi 4 door w/37s.

In 4lo with a 4:1, the RIPP can spool up power pretty quick when you need it.

I prefer it with the RIPP.

I absolutely would do it again (if I was stuck with the 3.8). Who knows, maybe with their new Pentastar kit as well.

It does pull more from 2500-5500 rpms but I also didn't want crazy low end torque to reduce driveline stress. Plus, the 3.8 is tuned stock to be more of a revver than stump puller. I had an Explorer V6 with an Eaton-roots blower and the low end torque that I had from that setup would probably tear the D30 apart eventually.

The ripp is a centrifugal charger, opposed to a positive displacement, ( twin screw or roots type) centri's build boost with rpm, pos displacement is instant boost the jeep really needs an eaton set up.
