Default Superchip ???????

I didn't want to hijack the petition thread.......so.........

What will the Superchip provide that the other chips (UniChip and Jet??) that are currently available do not???

Sorroy.......I have only read a little about chips but have yet to install or use one.

Is Superchip simply a preferred brand?????

or

Would it be anticipated to over some functions/features not offered by the others currently available?????

Thanks in advance for any info.

(NOTE:: Oh.....I drove a 6 spd Rubi today at a local dealer........sweet........an order may be imminent.)

Superchips is a LCD Programmer with pull-down menus. You can alter 'tunes' for different fuels, you can also, and this is a BIG one, program tire size for speedo correction. On some vehicles you can raise the red-line or rev-limiter. Also, with automatics you can change shift-points. You can read and clear 'codes' too.....pretty cool.

Updates to the programmers are available on-line so you get the most up to date programs.

Superchips plugs into your vehicle and reprograms the computer. When it does this, it also flashes your 'stock' program onto the unit, so you never lose the 'stock' program if you ever want to go back to it.

They're great! Customer Service is Great! I have one for my HEMI Ram.....it's a different truck with the Superchips!

Jet-Chip is just that - a plug and play chip.

Jet-Chip makes a programmer too though, along with several other companies. I think Superchips is just well known because of their great customer service. They're a small company.

You can usually get them for right around $400, which isn't bad considering the general updates are FREE!

How expert do you have to be to get the most out of the superchip. I'd like to do it if it would improve my MPG, and eventually I'll get bigger tires so I'll need to adjust the speedometer. I don't know, though, which way (or by how much) to adjust my shift points, for example.

Is a superchip only for high-end motor heads?

No, most hand helds are for everyday users and provide a safe "canned" tune, and allow you to change tire/gear settings, along with shift points/firmness and a few other options. Most end users will use the generic tune, and modify tire size and shift points. Some tuners allow timing changes, but still keep it within a safe point so you can't overly screw your drive train up. Although, some have done so, mainly diesel applications.
