Superchips Flashpaq...the 3rd Phase
i have now had my superchips flashpaq for about 3 months and i thought i would share my results. i know there is an extensive thread on this topic, but i figured i would start another.
my jeep is a daily driver and is not that heavily modded. its an '07 with 15000 miles and i have had it about 9 months. i have an automatic transmission, 4" lift with 35" tires, and the stock 4:10 gears. i drive about 80% city and 20% highway that consists of moderately sized rolling hills.
phase 1:
i installed the lift and tires after a couple months of ownership and was instantly disappointed with the performance loss. i was getting a calculated average of 12.5 mpg. this was probably a little better than what i was actually getting due to the fact that my speedo and odometer were still off. so i saw about a 4 mpg loss just by adding the lift and tires. combined with the small capacity of the gas tank i felt i was living at the gas station. i started weighing all my options between regearing, engine upgrades, or programmers and the cost associated with them. 3 months later...after doing some research on the forum i decided the easiest option would be a programmer and went with the flashpaq.
phase 2:
i bought the flashpaq and started playing around with all the tuning options. after calibrating for the tire size and getting my speedo back to normal i decided to start off with the 87 tune. i was instantly impressed with the output...now instead of needing an airstrip to get up to speed on the interstate, i was able to accelerate and merge into traffic with confidence. the gains were pretty much comparable to having the jeep back to stock. obviously this is not the most desirable, but better than putting around like i had been doing. its been about 3 months and i have been averaging 13.5 mpg. any improvement in this category was a plus and to have some power gains as well was also a great thing. my commute is not that far so the mpg is not a huge issue, but i thought i would share what the results were.
phase 3:
the flashpaq was only to pacify things until i am able to regear, but i have now been inspired by some other members who have switched to the 91 tune. so i have filled up the tank with 91 octane and retuned the jeep. like before i noticed what seemed to be a little bit more performance, but its only been a few days. so i am anxious to see how the next couple tanks average out. i plan on keeping track of the mileage to share the results in the future so we'll see how that goes.
i guess what i am trying to say with my ramblings is that the flashpaq is not a hemi, but a good investment to get a decent amount of power for the money. i have not seen the dramatic mpg increase that other members have claimed to have seen, but i did see a little bit.

get mine hopefully within 1 week....I'm going straight to 91 tune....could care less about fuel mileage, just want every bit more power I can get out of her...one day i'll get the hemi
......oh ya, plus the speedo/gear/tire recal would be great
thanks for sharing your results....

I've had my Flashpaq for a number of months now. Best money I've spent thus far on my JK. In response to the recent posts about the 91 octane tune, I ran my tank of 87 down and refilled a couple days ago with 91. I then retuned using the 91 octane profile.
I have to say that I'm not even sure I notice a difference in performance after retuning with the 91 octane profile, certainly nothing even close to what I noticed when I went from stock to the 87 profile (which I thought was pretty dramatic).
Can't say anything about mileage yet. I plan to run a couple tanks through it and see what happens. I was getting around 16 in town on the 87 profile.
Just my .02 worth...
