Suspension help please.
well I am not bashing AEV, they are known for their products.... as well as being over priced.
I read EVERY post in this thread. I saw you pictures. None of them were of the same approach or at the same point in the crossing. I didn't mention it because AGAIN I am not bashing AEV.
Cambolts..... there is no argument... THEY SUCK! Not because they "fail" but because you will always have to adjust and tighten them. That is fact. I have used them in the past so I am not just repeating what I rad here.
Again not bashing AEV, just wondering why you are so defensive. If someone told me TF sucked I would simply laugh at them

As far as the photos are concerned you are right, they were never intended to be an accurate comparison of different lift kits down to the thousandths of an inch. I didn't measure the approach angle or wind speed. I wasn't wearing a lab coat and holding a clip board. Hell, I didn't even take the darn photos. It wasn't until a week or so after the fact that it was apparent that the photographer had captured a very good representation of different lifts, on the same vehicle, doing the same thing all from the same photographic angle. I understand that you're going to dismiss the validity of those photos and use the argument that none of the JKs were on the same exact line but that doesn't change the fact that the AEV kit and even my bottom of the line Rancho kit kept up with the so called big boys.
What I was trying to illustrate in past posts was that the claims being made about the AEV kit sucking off road were flat out false. I don't know how many times I need to say this but I feel the photos show that the AEV kit is no better or no worse off road then comparable products in the market. It offered as much flex as the other brands and did not limit the JK in any way shape or form. Hell, my cheap ass Rancho kit had enough flex to not limit me on Golden Spike either so does that mean I work for Rancho?
Just because people like what AEV has to offer doesn't mean other companies don't offer quality products. All it means is that AEV approached the suspension upgrade from a different perspective and seem to have struck a chord with many potential customers.
Ok so if I were to go with aev and have to replace driveshafts and by the sounds of it new lower control arms would my best bet just be the mopar 2" and since its just 2 I would not have those problems?
I disagree. There are circumstances that will prevent the drive shaft from coming into contact with the tranny or exhaust or skid plate. What if he never disconnects the front sway bar? What if he uses shocks that limit his downward travel? What if he never maxs out his suspension?
The point I was making is that at some point, it's safe to say that new drive shafts will be needed so planning for that expense is warranted. But if you're trying to tell me that just because at some point I'll need new shafts is reason enough to buy them without running the JK for awhile is bogus.
Install the lift, drive it, if new shafts are warranted replace them. It's that simple.

I would say it is needed.

Come on, you are bashing AEV and everyone that points out the misconceptions about the lift. Are you familiar with the term "passive aggressive"? In an earlier post you accused me of working for AEV and after looking at alot of your posts I think I can ask you the same question concerning Teraflex.

2. Cam bolts suck
3. Never accused you of anything... I simply ASKED if you were on payroll
4. Please don't mistake sarcasm as being accusatory.... the only one on the defensive is you
5. Your avatar is still gay
any 2" would fit your needs, Mopars just expensive for what your paying for. You can probley get a beter lift from teraflex, Rough country, Currie, Fulltraction and Rockkrawler,,,, hell anyone and be cheaper than Mopar
Find a new dealer. He just wants to sell his MOPAR kit to you. TeraFlex doe's have a 2.5" Coil kit.
I think you are right I have spent the last two days here at work reading as many threads as I can. I like the aev but it seems I can get a very good product and thru northridge I can build an OME lift how I want it. My question is it says it is a 2" but everyone uses the HD springs and gets 3". Has anyone just used the lighter springs and what do they end up with? Thanks to all for the info it has really helped.
I was in the same situation when I started my mods, but here in EU is a bit more difficult, it is hard to find good 4x4 shops that knows the JK and are close from where I live.
I first considered the OME shock/spring plus track bar front/rear and new sway bar link (rear) as I planned to reuse the OE rear to move in front.
Then I ordered this to a well known vendor, which convince me that the FT 3'' premium was better, so I ordered this one plus the rear track bar.
If I had not taken this route I will probably be on this OME and that it. I was influenced, and I enter the game so here I am.
If you really want something simple no brainer and that works (a lot of people run this set up) and you don't want to go insane
with mod, then I think this might be a very good way to go. I found later that OME are sold here in EU you can find easily, and now that I know better the Jeep world, and have contact with Jeepers here, it seems OME is a good way.
My 0.02 $.
