Suspension Link advantages??
I'm new to coil suspension systems, so my question is, what exactly do the front and rear suspension links do??
I'm asking this because I'm not sure which lift to go with. I'm between the Skyjacker 3.5" with the link upgrade kit, and the teraflex 3" kit without links... The prices are with 100 bucks, but I dont know what advantages the new links would yield.
I'll mainly be trail riding with some minor climbing and some mud, so what do ya'll think? Thanks in advance

I presume you are talking about the sway bar links. You need longer ones with a lift. Both the Skyjacker and the Teraflex have them. They both come with front quick disconnects. The Skyjacker come with new rear links, but the Teraflex comes with rear link "extentions". If you don't need the quick discos, then you can get replacements for the rear and swap the front with the ones from the back.
Since I'm not sure I answered the right question, let us know.

I appreciate the quick response, but I'm talkin about the front and lower links from the frame to the axle. You can see the upgrade kit for the skyjacker here http://www.quadratec.com/products/16005_141.htm
thanks again
thanks again
Those are nice and red but notice that they don't have any heim joints on them. From what i have seen these are only a little longer than stock and have no adjustment in them. The lack of heim joints isn't going to help improve flex either. I recommend you going with a higher quality/more complete kit like the full traction ultimate 3 inch.
x3 on the adjustable control arms. At least get one set (uppers or better yet beefier lowers). Avoid cam bolts as an adjustment option.
So the terminology is straight (for the most part):
"Links" are for the Sway Bar
"Control Arms" are for locating the axle front and back
"Track Bars" are for locating the axle side to side
Good luck with your lift quest!

Yup, you don't need replacement control arms, you want adjustable one. There are a number of good ones out there. A lot of manufactures call them links (like Skyjacker and Superlift) others call them control arms. Most of us call them control arms.
Yeah, the terminology is not consistent. On my Black Diamond kit for example, the instructions refer to the "front sway bar" and the "rear anti-sway bar". But, "for the most part" (as in my previous post), most other manufactures and the factory uses the terms I mentioned above.
It's stuff like that what makes it hard to communicate!

I am also new to the suspension stuff. I just added a 3" lift with 35" tires to my JK – by myself and lived to talk about it! I used the Full Traction Econ package (http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?jeep-sid=357&plID=65&partID=13105).
Things I learned:
1. If you do a 3” lift with 35" tires you need to read this link (http://project-jk.com/jeep-jk-write-...end-alignment)! You will probably need to do most or all of these items. The picture in the top left corner will come in handy.
2. My JK now has “flightiness” or “dartiness”, so you may want to read the piece on adjusting you caser from @1. Since the econ lift did not come with adjustable upper control arms, nor do the ones you listed, I had to place another order for those. They should be in this week, so I will put them in this weekend and see if adjusting the caser works.
3. ESP – this will haunt you! The electron stability control can not be shut off. I just had the JK in the dealer yesterday and they told me the button only tones down the ESP. They said Jeep is aware of the issue and is trying to find a fix or work around. Hopefully the caser adjustment from #1 will help.
I also followed this write up (http://project-jk.com/jeep-jk-write-ups/full-traction-suspension-2007-jeep-jk-wrangler-3-economy-lift), which helped a ton! Project JK rocks!!! This may help you with whatever lift you go with.
Don’t forget the coil spring compressor!!! You should be able to rent a set at the auto parts store.
A note to all those wanting to purchase Full Traction packages: I recommend the M-Force shocks (http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?jeep-sid=357&plID=65&partID=13106) because the 5100 series does not have the extra tightening nut on it, so they are a pain to install.
Also, the guys from 4wd.com called me before placing the order and talked me into the heavy duty coils (verses standard coils) because I planned on adding a front bumper and winch. It does sit a little higher in the front but I can live with it until I save up the money for the bumper.
P.S. Depending on what state you live in anything lift over 3” could void your factory warranty. Or should I say I read something about specific states passing laws to protect us Jeep owners.

It is up to the manufacturer to PROVE that the parts caused the problem.
