Default Swapping axles

So who has taken the plunge and swapped axles already? Was recently contacted to do a front axle swap on a JK. Anybody accomplish this yet? How did you over come the electronics in the front. The tone ring deal? I haven'teven tore into a a new JK yet. But by no means is this my first build.

So lets see some pics and here the stories.

I think he ordered a Rubi D44 front from the dealer. Seems like I read that in another post.

OK, it's here. Should be in the Jeep by the end of the week. I just have to find an evening to do it.

if its a stock replacement axle, it should just be straight up like any other swap. the electronics plugs in.

I just recieved my D44 axle from Mopar Performance. It looks like it is going to bolt right in. It came with all the wiring for he wheel sensors, etc. I already jumpered the locker to power to check that is working and all is good. I plan to install it this weekend if we don't end up running the Rubicon trail instead...Wipeout

What did it end up costing you and how difficult of a job is it? I know it's stronger but what specifically are all of the benefits of the D44 over the 30? Also, does it effect gearing in anyway or would you still have to regear?

You can probably tell I'm pretty clueless.

Hey, your brother just called me (from the shop) about gears. He sounded a bit busy

That's a good deal on those axles, but I'm not sure if I'll get one or not. Seems like most of the breakage that's going on is on parts that are shared between the D30 and D44. It's not like people are shredding r&p gears and carriers and inners (or at least they're not saying if they are). Seems most of the parts that are breaking are axle u-joints and outer shafts. As far as I know, these parts are shared between the Rubi's and the non-Rubi's.

If I'm wrong on any of the above, feel free to enlighten me.

The front 5.13's broke a tooth, and shredded the rest just last week on my JK. They are warrantied, but the cost of shipping, master install kit, and labor are making me wonder about swapping out the front axle completely. If it breaks again, I'm going to a different front axle! Seems the Dana 30 doesn't like the big tires, OR, the transmission specialists that put my gears in didn't shim em properly.......?
Didn't even get two months on the darn things.
