Swapping E-Fan for viscous fan
Anyone done a swap and got rid of the electric fan? I know other JK owners have had problems with their electric motors due to water intrusion. In my old TJ we tried running an e-fan and had nothing but problems. It was also much less efficient than the original viscous fan, so we swapped back.
Looking down at my 09' JK motor I can see the threaded shaft where the viscous fan would go. That means that on another version of this motor, they are running it with a viscous fan. Anyone know if any other model Jeep, Chrysler or Dodge that runs this engine with the non-electric fan? Getting a shroud is not a problem because the diesel ones have them, and it should be pretty easy to adapt. I've already been looking into it. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

With that said what I'd do is measure the thread pitch and find a viscous fan that has that thread pitch and then just measure your clearances to make sure that fan fits and there you go.
More efficient cooling. My first check will be to try the diesel JK fan but that will probably useless due to it being an Italian motor. Then I'll try my TJ and WJ fans if the size matches. I have taken all the possible measurements. I was just wondering if somebody had already done this, to avoid all the testing. If nobody has, when I do it, I will post it for others interested.

I remember an awful lot of XJ owners were changing out the viscous fans for electric. The stock fan on an XJ did not do its job well after lifting/bigger tires/more weight from bumpers and armor/and winches sitting in front of the grill. I cooled better by going to a H/D 3 core radiator.
JK is quite a different beast than a XJ. I plan to change the radiator for sure since I run an 8274 in front of the grill. E-Fan has to go. Way too unreliable. Different people have different needs.
