Anyone seen any modification or having a good ideas how to make a swing down rear tail gate instead of present swing aside. Would like to see pictures or drawings if you have.

Not for a JK, but maybe this will help with some ideas.

You could probably modify the rear to fold down easily without the spare tire. Otherwise it would be a pain.

you should see the honda ridgeline. the back not only swings to the side, you can also open it so it folds down. pretty neat.

Just like Dad's 1970's station wagon -- what old is new again.

Ahhhhh, I remember those tailgates well! My dad had an early '70s Ford wagon with a monster V8 in it. Wasn't so cool once the price of gas skyrocketed to $1/gallon.

LOL, my 69 jeep had that and I still can hear the chains rattling!

Plus they get in the way when you are taking things out of the rear, but they do a great job of holding the stove, etc. when camping.

Not worrying the spare tire, have plans for that. My opinion is that swing down is more useful and handy than swing aside so keep posting if any ideas come up thanks !
