Default Warranty and Switching gearing

Does upgrading the gears on an '08 or any new jeep for that matter, void the warranty? What about adding a lift kit...
Thanks!
Stacy

There's been a lot of talk on the forum about this... you may do a search and find some helpful info. To answer your question (in general), just because you mod your Jeep does not mean you void your warranty unless what you modified caused the warranty issue... in which case you most likely will have to pay for the issue. The key is to find a lift friendly dealer, they are more apt to work w/you on things. As for the gear swap... good chance the dealer will never know you have swapped your gears. The lift however is obvious.

I'm guessing that the black box doesn't have a GPS, so the gears for the speedometer are driven by the same gears as the odometer....so it would READ that the speeds, rpm, and so forth matched what they were supposed to.

Besides, they have to PROVE that the mod CAUSED the failure of a covered part...that's the law.

They can't just say you voided the warranty....they MUST prove how it happened.

As mentioned above...if the dealer is cool, they just note the warranty repair, and all is well.
