a REGULAR tailgate like a pick-up but the whole rear half of the jeep is replaced in that set up...isn't it?

If they have a tailgate set up and you could just buy the rear gate.....that would start you on the way to a custom fab.

I would really like it if it could be worked out so you can choose whether it opens as a swing out, or drop down.

make it strong enough and you've got a place for a couple of people to sit
when parked, of course...not off-roading

We just need to fab an adapter to mount the gate from a '76 Ford Gran Torino Squire. It had the dual mode gate with electric window no less. Might have been a little wider than the JKs by a foot or two though. The simulated woodie look might set it off nicely.

Cool thanks. I have been thinking of this ever since I got my JK. I was surprised to see that the concept jeep JT did not hve a fold down. But I am not the one making this stuff just the one buying it.
