Tailgate Bump Stops
Hey everyone,
So I ordered some 285/70/17 duratracs with mickey thompson sidebiters (17x9 w/4.5" bs). Will I need new bump stops on the tailgate or will the factory ones still work?
Thanks

Longer Daystar bumpstops would be a good idea. You don't "have to" get them but they are inexpensive and easy to install. I noticed my tailgate immediately felt more "solid" as soon as I closed it the first time.
Alright thanks for the input, not to change the topic but MPKelley20 I noticed you have the dynomax rock crawler exhaust. The same system is in my garage I just have to put it on. I was just wondering if you like it.
I tried the Daystar ones and they broke on me. Not very well made. I had to change a tire and when I took my spre off, both fell out of the holes and I noticed that the tips had broken off. Very flimsy. I ended up running my stock ones after that which didn't do anything to support the tires but luckily I never had an issue with my stock carrier.
So before I go wheeling, I am going to have to make some changes. I've considered cutting it where the pipe begins to bend down right around the rear axle and have the exhaust dump there. I've also considered removing the entire rear piece and buying either a turn down tip and attaching it directly to the muffler or looking for a slightly longer pipe with the same idea. Just not sure what that will do to he loudness factor. It's loud now but not terribly loud. I don;t want it to be annoying! LOL!
I was really surprised to read that people are having issues with these breaking. Daystar has a good reputation for making quality products.
Also, I've read that making an extension out of heavy hose to fit inside the stock bumpstops works well.
