Default Tailgate Bump Stops

Hey everyone,

So I ordered some 285/70/17 duratracs with mickey thompson sidebiters (17x9 w/4.5" bs). Will I need new bump stops on the tailgate or will the factory ones still work?

Thanks

Longer Daystar bumpstops would be a good idea. You don't "have to" get them but they are inexpensive and easy to install. I noticed my tailgate immediately felt more "solid" as soon as I closed it the first time.

I was told to use a piece of PVC inside the rubber stopper to extend it if necessary

Alright thanks for the input, not to change the topic but MPKelley20 I noticed you have the dynomax rock crawler exhaust. The same system is in my garage I just have to put it on. I was just wondering if you like it.

Same here. I just installed them yesterday, and they were on the ground today, broke off at the tip. I thought they were made from a hard rubber, but when I got them they were a really light foam material. Basically threw away 15 bucks. I saw another thread where people use the stock tailgate bumpstops and got a piece of rubber tubing and added to it.

Just not sure what that will do to he loudness factor. It's loud now but not terribly loud. I don;t want it to be annoying! LOL!
I'm running the Dynomax Evolution Competition exhaust, which is the same as the Rock Crawler except it dumps in front of the rear axle. Only time it's annoying is when I'm driving up a hill and the RPMs are stuck around 2.5-3k and it's an annoying drone and sometimes there's a lot of resonance. Haven't had any leakage problems, but my system is welded on. The exhaust shop recommended it since the front piece you swap out had a good seal and didn't want to break it. I forgot about the 90 day trial offer a couple days later, but it was too late since it was welded.

I was really surprised to read that people are having issues with these breaking. Daystar has a good reputation for making quality products.
Also, I've read that making an extension out of heavy hose to fit inside the stock bumpstops works well.
