OP, you have a 35" tire. Over time your tailgate will bend. Get a tire carrier bumper.
I have the same backspacing as you, I have the daystar bumpstops too.... It still does it. Im gunna have to get a carrier sooner than I like

Yep, it sucks. It's either get a tire carrier bumper or new wheels with less offset. But new wheels means new tires, and that gets expensive.

Good luck with your decision. Tell your wallet I understand the pain; my wallet is going through the same thing too.

I had some noise after putting a 33 on the tailgate, adjusted the latch guide a couple times till it took care of it. Only a band-aid, saving up for a servicable FRAME MOUNTED carrier.

I have no noises yet after almost a year with a 35 on the stock carrier, I do have the daystar spacers.

i can tell you from personal experience that the RR is very heavy, but its prob the best bumper tire carrier on the market for the money, it looks good and it will def protect your rig from anything on the trail.

do you know how much it weighs. I was thinking about getting the RR front bumper also but can not find specs online for them. I may call RR tomorrow to get weights.

check out this thread about the mbrp tailgate reinforcement brackets...

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...brp+spare+tire

they say you can safely keep 35's without ruining your tailgate over time and a few people have had good success with it... definitely more cost effective at under $50 or so... probably going to get this when I eventually get my tire upgrade because the $$ wont be there for the expensive tire carrier bumpers as well

I ordered a RR tire carrier bumper and front bumper today, before it's gets to where I need to replace the gate......

I'm only running 33's and am shocked at how weak the gate is...
I agree with Gunslinger.......Your welds are either gone or are going and that is the thin metal poping sound your hearing. Buy and Or-Fab carrier and be done with it.

I had my 35 on the stock carrier for only 4 months and it waffled the tailgate but that also may be because i drive on terrible roads and i have a suspicion that someone sat on it
