Default Temp Gauge running bit high??

Anyone else's run slightly above half on temp gauge? 2012 with 30,000 miles and 35's. Mine has been bouncing between just halfway and then occasionally goes up to 3/4 mark, then back down under normal highway driving and offroad. Doesn't stay up that high for long. Just wondering if this is normal or something to take to dealer before i hit 36K (at 30K now). Never hit the red or chimed on me yet.

Topped off the coolant few days ago so that is at normal level. Also, hit the radiator with hose at car wash to get any mud out. There was some mud that came out, but I'm not a mud bogger by anymeans. I know the manual says as long as it doesn't read ""H"" then it is in normal operating range. Just wondering if anyone else has same experience.

I haven't had that happen, but there is a lot of variance in what that guage displays. For pretty cheap (under 40 bucks), you can plug into your ODBii port and get the actuall numbers your computer sees. This is what I did. https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modi...e-temp-263178/

I've had mine climb up a bit, but only when I was doing Sherman Pass in the heat. That's fully loaded and going up hill for quite a while in 4HI. I put it into 4LO and that helped some. I've heard that the Pentastar engine is prone to running hotter than the previous 3.8, but I'm not sure why. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

If you're running that hot for no reason, I would get it looked at. Maybe a thermostat issue

Hey Demtek, have you heard anything about this one?

UltraGauge OBDII Scan tool & Information Center

Sorry for thread jacking, but I figure it's going along with the advice you are giving the OP.

Actually no, but it looks like a pretty good package. I just used my andriod phone and the 3 dollar app, since I can charge my phone and use the app at the same time.
I actually read that this sensor worked on Jeeps in the amazon posts, so I gave it a try. I can tell you that it will read temps real time where your dash guages don't even move.

Yeah, thing that makes me feel better is, it doesn't usually stay at 3/4 mark more than say maybe 30 sec to a minute before it starts falling back to half. And I only saw 3/4 offroad in 4LO. On road usually like 5/8.
