Default Teraflex 4" drive line modification

I was looking on the quadratec site and the 4" teraflex lift said drive line mods are required while the Rancho 4" there is no mods listed for the drive line.

What mods are required on the quadratec?

Rancho is one of the top recommended for my Z71 why not for the Jeep? Seems the Teraflex is the one everyone likes for the Jeep.

Rancho lifts for the TJ were pretty bad. It will be interesting to see how they are for the JK.

I called and asked. I ordered the Teraflex 4". It's sitting on the shelf waiting for bumpers.

Teraflex told me it had to do with the rear drive-shaft, and potentially the front one also. They just don't like the stock drive shafts. They say they will probably pack it one day or another. On that note, he said for their test vehicle that they left the stock shafts and they haven't gone yet.

Stock shafts work fine. I have the 4" Teraflex and had no problems with the stock shafts, although I have since upgraded to the JE Reel 1350's.

what about on the 2dr with a 4in? is it still just a concern of the boots on the shafts wearing and going or something more serious because of the slightly greater angles??

The front shafts have more severe angles after lifting than the rear on an Unlimited. I haven't seen the angles on a 2-door, but would imagine that new driveshafts would help out out with front crossmember clearance with a 4" lift. Mine had to be trimmed with the 3" lift. It was making contact when the suspension dropped.

I called Burnsville Offroad and asked that same question regarding the 2dr Rubi I have on order. I was told not to worry, unless I have a Hemi under the hood, which I thought of doing. But the wife wants an Unlimited now, and I haven't even gotten mine yet!

I was told the stock driveline worked fine with 4 inches of lift (Teraflex) and 37 inch tires on the 2 door, and not to worry. I was also told that yes, they had problems snapping drive shafts, but again, that was with a Hemi installed under the hood. The torque of the Hemi was twisting the shafts pretty bad, but no problems with the V6 and not to worry.

And he did not mention anything about trimming the cross member for clearance? But, I did not ask about clearances, I was more interested in angles. Maybe the 2 dr Rubi is a little different? I don't know, I can only go on what I was told. And I do not doubt that trimming was required. Sometimes we just have to trim! Or just get a new front driveshaft. Anyone know how much the are, the front drive shafts? I should have asked when I was on the phone, but I was assured that no driveline mods were required on the 2 dr Rubi.

Mike

I think the JE Reel shafts are about $385. Teraflex didn't say anything about trimming the front cross member for the 3", I just found out the hard way.
