Headed to Pete's camp poker run this weekend in Baja Mexico 60 miles of woops . So the thought I wound tighten things up and found passenger side top bracket pulling away from the frame with the frame coming with it. Can believe I have been driving around like this the rear end is ready to fall out. The driver side weld also has a 2" crack in the weld. Have it at another shop now to get it fixed and add gussets. I haven't contacted the shop that installed it 3 years ago yet. The shop working on it said the welder was turned up to high and not enough material was added it just kind of burnt thought the frame rail.

Yeah thats a problem that no one wants. I always hate getting things welded because you never know what quality the weld is until it breaks off. A normal person can't look at a weld and say yeah that's good or bad 9 out of 10 times.

That second picture is actually the opposite of what the shop says, that weld is a cold joint from not enough heat, the whole weld bead never penetrated the surface of the frame. From looking at both pictures tho whoever was doing the welding needs some formal training before they get someone seriously hurt or killed. Looks like the didn't even bother to clean the frame of all paint etc in the area they were welding so the weld wouldn't be contaminated...can't just weld over paint and call it good..

That's an old issue that TF fixed in their newer kits with a reinforcement plate. It reinforces the frame, which is thin in that area.

Yep, ongoing issue. They have redesigned the brackets, and they suggest contacting them to get the new ones. Though a new bracket may not help much if the welder f's up.

Here is a thread from a few months ago.
