Default Teraflex Steering Stabilizer Install Question

Per WOL's instructions I installed the Teraflex HD steering stabilizer this past weekend. I had to adjust the bracket on the axle mount in order to keep the stabilizer from hitting the trackbar axle mount when turning the wheels to the passenger side. Has anyone else ran into this issue? It works fine now but the stabilizer hangs lower than the stock stabilizer.

Do I need a relocation bracket for this?

unfortunately, you most likely have a bent tie-rod. a relocation bracket will help you work around this issue but you should check your toe as it is most likely off.

That's what I did. I just don't like having the stabilizer and the mount hanging that low to the ground. It hangs about as low as the differential now.

So are you saying that the tie rod is bent upward? If it is bent inward towards the back of the jeep or outward towards the front I don't see how that would affect the clearance of the stabilizer unless it used to be an inch closer towards the front in which case it doesn't appear to be that far bent :

It's partially blocked in this pic but I think any noticeable bend would be seen. Does anyone have a picture of this stock with an unbent tie rod?

yes, it most likely is bent upward just a tad. otherwise, your SS should clear the track bar mount. this is a very common problem on all JK's especially if you wheel it.

it looks bent upward to me and it looks just like mine, and i just ordered the rockrawler hd tie-rod with moog ends for $ 179, but the moog ends dont come with the tie-rod they have to be purchased at your local auto parts for around $60 - $80 ea. and had to remove my SS relocation bracket....
though i think the bracket did'nt work with the hd rockrawler drag link....

you'd need a totally differen knuckle to do that. the current setup would get in the way.

So should I get a new tie rod or get a steering stabilizer relocation bracket? Or would it be a bad idea to do both? Would the Woods relocation bracket work with the Rockcrawler one?

How will driving on my slightly bent tierod adversely affect my Jeep?

if you can afford to get a new chromo tie rod like RK makes, i would go that route as it will be the last one you'll need to get. if you want to get both, that wouldn't be such a bad idea either as it will get your SS up and out of the way of rocks as well.

your tires will not wear properly.

hey WOL what setup do you have with your SS? are you running a reloc. bracket or a double SS... ? oh, and by the way i have been running with a bent tie rod for quite some time and my front tires were wearing unevenly like WOL said so get on top of the tie rod and get the bent one out....

the tie rod is responsible for toe right?
once i install the new one i just measure it to the same length as the old one and are you or any one running anything specific as far as the toe adjustment or is it just left stock i have 4" lift with 33" bfg mt's and was just wondering if there are any benefits to changing the toe settings? thanx WOL, got your pm (oops) case closed...lol
