Well said, the last 2 posts. This whole thread makes me think of Toby Keith's song 'Made In America' - "SPEND A LITTLE MORE IN THE STORE FOR A TAG IN THE BACK THAT SAYS U.S.A."

Maybe it's about pride, and to each his (/her) own. I love to support American made companies and products and go out of my way whenever I can. I wish the government could (/would) do something to get manufacturing jobs back here, and make it a little harder (tariffs) to get foreign...whatevers. Like the song says, "Breaks his heart to see foreign cars, filled with fuel that isn't ours...".

Anyway, it comes down to personal preference. I would have a problem buying a knock-off, but that's just me. I see both sides, but maybe I'm a little extreme and don't mind waiting to accrue the extra money for the original.

Whatever floats your boat, right?

I would like to chime in here. First I own the eBay snorkel. Yes I debated with myself over this very issue. Did they rip off the idea from AEV? Yes. Looks like a duct, walks like a duck, yes it's a duck. How is the quality? Very good! I was impressed. Do I feel bad about buying the non AEV product? Yes I do. Would I do it again yes I would.
Now for a deeper thought. Did AEV spend $10,000 plus for this? I don't know what the profit is. However I'm pretty sure their manufacturing cost aren't very high. If somebody does know better than please educate me because I'm ignorant of the cost. But I can't tell you what my money means a lot to me. I believe based off of the limited info I have at this time that AEV has overpriced their product and priced it out of my range of what I feel comfortable. I won't spend that amount of money just because they are American. And don't even dare question my patriotism or I will give you my COL Jessup speech. Army version. Lot of people bringing up that issue have never done anything for this great nation other than pay taxes. (Im not accusing anybody here of that). Bottom line is we all have our reason, our opinions and our needs. But let's don't forget that we are a Jeep brotherhood/sisterhood. We don't always agree but let's don't work ourselves up and just enjoy this great forum. See you out there on the trail AEV and eBay people!
