Default Thinking about lifting with 33's

Do you think running a TF 3 inch lift kit with my Mt's would make it look like a skateboard? I really noticed how bad my JK takes potholes and was hoping that a lift might help a little.

Yes I know its shiny don't worry its a lot more beat up thanks to some hail and people spinning their tires in mud in front of me.

I want to go with the 3 inch because I'll be going for 35's in about a year and then eventually 37s

Hey there, I know exactly what you mean about the hail damage. I was at camelback and the i-17 when that thing blew threw a 5pm. My jeep is in the shop right now for repairs.

I plan on only doing a 2.5" coil lift from teraflex. I personally think it is the best as u can still fit 35's and you can keep the center of gravity low. If you go 3" you will probably gain more lift than that and then u are going to possibly have drive shaft issues and w/o adj control arms the steering is going to feel flighty.

Call TF to check the lift heights on the new coils. If you end up with the older 3" 2door coils, or coils for a 4door, you're in for a bit of a surprise.

This was posted a while back:

As basic13 indicated, the 2.5" coils would be better for your current tires and the 35's. Then swap to the 3" coils when you go to 37's? Then again, some people like the 'skateboard' look.

I didn't think about going with the 2.5 then just getting the 3 inch coils later
Thanks

I was in my Jeep as it was getting shot at by hail it was literally coming sideways. do you have pics of your damage, my deductible was at $1000, I don't think the bill would run that high enough so I'm on my own, if you don't mind me asking where is it being done at, how much is it running you and for how many? I have a couple dozen all over my hood, my passenger door, my passenger side rear and front front fender the hail also cracked my windshield but my insurance covered it.

I heard it was so bad that one of the Jeep dealerships were offering huge discounts on the damaged jeeps.
So much has happened to my Jeep and it hasn't even reached 10K yet.

What about if I put 2.5 in now and when I put 35's I'll put the 3 inch springs would that be fine or would it still be too flighty?

The jeep will look fine with the lift. I put a 2.5 BB w/ 32" tires on after a couple trips of wheeling & dragging the belly pan. It looks better than stock height.

However, it will not help the ride with potholes. The higher the ride height the worse the ride.

Again, find out what the 'actual' lift heights will be for the coils you choose. (ie. 2.5" spacer = 2.5" actual, 2.5" coil = 3.5-4" actual, 3" coil = 4.5-5" actual, etc...) At 2.5-3", many people stay with stock arms and live with the handling. Over that, you will really want to start considering a set of adj arms. But, everyone has their own tolerance for non-stock handling, so the best answer is to lift it and see what 'you' think.

My opinion, plan on at least front lower and rear upper ca's, as well as both front and rear driveshafts when you go to those 3" coils...

Default here's ours

Here's ours with a TF 2.5" Coil lift and 33" Duratracs. I got 3" of lift on the front and 2" of lift in the rear. The ride is a little stiffier but no issues with it on the freeways at 80 mph
