I have a Rough Country full width winch bumper. Just talked to them, and was told the winch plate is rated at 4.5 tons. Have a (Chinese) 13,500 lb winch to mount. Probably won't get used alot...mostly for snow recovery since I'm in CT. Do you think it's good enough as is, or should I get some reinforcement welded in before install. Thoughts?

 

merely my opinion, but as long as you're not dangling over the side of a cliff, or you're doing some dumbass stuff like WhistlinDiesel might do for YT clicks, you'll be just fine.

 

Just know your limits. A straight pull you will probably be fine. If your rear end is tied to a tree, and you've got 4 snatch blocks between you and what you are pulling, and it's not moving....well you are going to have problems.

 

Lol. That's about what I figured. No more than 3 snatch blocks, and no hanging off of cliffs. At least not in the Jeep. I got the bumper on last night. Glad I have the bike/ATV jack since I was alone. Winch comes tonight, then I have to figure out how to wire everything.
