Default Thread read overload- help with lift for 2012...

Ok all of you wise sages out there-

I have been reading for about a month and I am to the point of pulling my eyes out. I get to the point of knowing what I want and then I read a thread saying I shouldn't. Maybe a few quick pointers from you guys will help. I have owned more than my share of Jeeps all the way up to an 07 2dr Rubicon. It had a 2" puck lift on it with 295/70/17s and spacers. I sold it for a fun car which has since been sold for a 2012 Rubicon Unlimited. Here is the question... I am only wanting a few inches of lift so the wife (5'2") can get in and drive. I have family in Colorado so we will use it to wheel, but nothing heavy and no real crawling. I had narrowed it down to an EMU 2" spring kit, AEV 2" kit, or a TF 2 1/2 bb. I want to keep the factory ride and want to keep it under the level of lift where I need to start replacing all sorts of stuff. It's only a few weeks old. Should I just puck it with brackets or am I really better off with a small spring lift? The money isn't that big of a deal since they seem to be only a few hundred either way. I am not opposed to buying 5100s or EMU shocks unless you think I can just extend and use mine. I have black Pintlers with 285/70/17 Duratracs on now. I will buy 35s at some point. I know this is long winded. Too many variables- brackets, track bars, shocks vs. extensions, pucks vs. springs, links or not, bump stops or not... Help

I am not asking you to do the research for me- I have read the threads. I just need a little clarity. If one of you with around $1000 budget could small lift a 2012 Rubi, what would you buy? What would you add to the kit? Here is mine as it sits. Thanks in advance. This site is awesome.Click image for larger version

So here's my input. I picked up the same rubi as yours about a month ago (same color and everything) and was in the same boat since its my wife's DD. I wanted to do a 2.5" TF coil lift with shock extensions since the rubi shocks are just fine with this amount of lift. Plus you can always add shocks if you dont like the ride. I ended up getting a 2.5" BB with pucks becasue I found a new lift cheap on CL. The puck lift with shock extensions rides slightly rougher than stock but not much, my wife doesnt even notice it. I put 35's on it and as far as height goes, I think it sits perfect. As far as track bars go, if you can squeeze them in your budget than I definetely would. I dont have adjustable track bars yet, and the jeeps drives great (no wobble) but I will be getting them to recenter the axles. So if it were my $1000 I'd do the TF 2.5" coil lift with shock extensions, TF exhaust spacer, and Front and Rear track bars.

I think your Jeep looks pretty good as it is.

If you want help keep a factory like ride, use a kit that reuses the stock shocks. The factory Rubicon shocks are great, now if you replace them you will need exhaust spacers.

Are you saying that even with the shock extensions, the Rubi shocks still don't have enough droop to need the spacers?

Check out Teraflex's video on Youtube it gives the best description why spacers are needed on pretty much any 2012 that is lifted.

Thanks for the input guys! I called Joe at TeraFlex and he was a great help! Just ordered the 2.5" coil lift with shock adaptors per Joe's advice from Northridge online (free shipping and a discount too)... This site and support rocks!

Now my 33s will look small... It begins---again...

Default Pic and question

OK- the lift was easy as long as you just followed directions. I put it on two days ago and have no noises or problems!

I do have a few questions for you guys.

1) The front shock extensions have a large washer that goes down over a ledge on the extension to be followed by your lower rubber washer for the upper part of the shock. I didi not find them with my kit until after installation so I put the factory lower washer on. It sits on the part about 3/8"- 1/2" higher with the same amount of surface to grab. WIll there be any problem here? I am going to buy new OME, Fox, or Bilsteins in a few weeks. The ride is fine. I am guessing it is just compressed 1/2" more.

2) On what I perceive to be flat ground I measured my fenders to see it level. It seems the front is maybe 1/2" taller than the rear. Yes, I did put the factory isolator back on top of the springs. Maybe it is just level now and I am used to the normal rake of the factory look.

Any thoughts on either of my questions would be much apreciated. Even your thoughts on shock selection. Click image for larger version
