Default Tie Rod and Drag Link

OK, stupid question time....

Should the tie rod and drag link have twisting play available? Just trying to narrow down a front in rattle and I noticed both have play in them being able to twist them up and down.

Thanks for taking it easy on my ignorance

Yes, they are designed to have twisting motion to them.
What you don't want is loose up and down play in the joint.
