Question

According to Project-JK.com, regearing can help recover both pickup and MPG after installing lift/tires? How does that work, I thought the two were somewhat at odds?

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but after putting on larger tires the engine has to work harder to turn them. By getting lower gears the engine works less to turn the tires.

Just drove about 600 miles over the weekend in the jeep with lift and 35's....definitely need to regear.....grades sux...and the jeep keeps shifting to try and keep the speed up....

Heck, makes me want to save my money and drop a v8 in it.

Robar you are absolutely correct. By putting bigger tires on the car your motor needs to work harder, which is why it bogs down in the low RPMs. After regearing your motor will not work so hard, but it will also need to be spinning faster to get the tire moving. It's like a bicycle .

mbrown2 I think you should regear first however that v8 would be awesome .
