Default Tinting option for softtop

I just got back from the local window tinting shop. I dont know why I didnt get tinted window panels from the dealer when I bought my JK. The window tint shop said there is not a way to tint the softop window panels. Anyone ever try to spray the spray tint on the window panels? If so, how did it work?

I have to think the best option is to just buy the tinted plastic windows and zip them in. I intend to do just that next summer.

Once in a while you will see them for sale on the forum here, but act fast.

You can get the replacement panels on the bay for about as much as you'd pay to have a car tinted. If I remember I paid $195 for a set of best top replacements that zip right into the stock soft top.

I will probably just buy the replacement ones. I was hoping for a cheaper option because I want my lift, tires, bumpers, armor, etc etc, and I want it all right now!
Tinting the windows seemed a cheaper option. We have a place here that will tint all the windows in a Jeep for around $90 bucks and they do a great job. Unfortunately, they cant do the plasticc windows.
Thanks for the input though. Today was a day off and I was just itching to get some Jeep things done. I painted the AC vent rings, tinted the marker lights, painted the muffler, painted the outside door lock rings. Yes, I was very bored.

Well if you're going to buy the tinted ones anyway, why not get yourself a few sheets of tint in whatever % you like, clean the inside of the window and lay it down? Worst thing that can happen is you screw up something you were getting rid of anyway, but in the event it actually works out, you'll be a hero for trying it to everyone who wants tint but has clear soft windows. lol

I actually thought about buying an old panel for any jeep off of craigslist to try the spray tint on. I can pick those up on Craigslist for $20 or so. That way my clear ones I can still use or keep in the Jeep rolled up in case of emergency down pours that are frequent here in Texas.

This may be a stupid question and i hoped i dont get called out too bad for it, but OTHER then peoples personal preferance on looks is there any other reason for getting tinted windows? Other then the obvious "its tinted so keeps more sun out" answer.

My personal opinion is i like the openess of the Jeep and think tinted windows would take away from that. If tinted windows comes down to personal opinion thats cool too, everyone has their likes and dislikes. Just wondering if there is any other benifits to it im not thinking of
