Tinting option for softtop
This may be a stupid question and i hoped i dont get called out too bad for it, but OTHER then peoples personal preferance on looks is there any other reason for getting tinted windows? Other then the obvious "its tinted so keeps more sun out" answer.
My personal opinion is i like the openess of the Jeep and think tinted windows would take away from that. If tinted windows comes down to personal opinion thats cool too, everyone has their likes and dislikes. Just wondering if there is any other benifits to it im not thinking of

I'll look around for it. I have another idea... and have contacted a company that makes roll up/down blinds from a woven UV cool fabric. The complete blinds are sold at Home Depot. I called the company to see if I could purchase just the material and cut 3 pieces to cover the windows and velcro them to the canvas frame around the 3 windows. They said would send me the material FREE, just charge me shipping. Still checking with my dealer who said he might be able to "swap me out" some tinted ones for my clear ones. If that falls through, I'm going to look into the shades.
I've had tinted windows on every ride I've ever had since high school, so since I'm new to the jeep world and softtop windows I decided to try the cling tint method before ponying up the cash for real deal tinted ones. I have to day that it didn't turn out all that bad. On a new set of windows (2008 here) it would turn out even better. The small one is almost perfect...it was getting late so I rushed the big one DOH! I'll post installed pics later. Definitely a do- able "meantime" solution.
I did the same thing... and all was well, until summer hit! The film slowly came off. I have the best top rollup window storage gizmo too.... so the film wouldn't have worked eventually anyway. i'm just going to go with a new set of tinted windows.
I would not tint the first set that you have unless money is not an issue.
I would (and did):
1) Buy the Bestop tinted ones
2) Sell the clear ones
This way you reduce the overall cost of your tinted windows.
I've read that issues with adding a layer of tint are going to arise when you fold/roll then. For the spray I would doubt that uniformity of tint over the panels is going to be easy to ensure...
