Default Tire advice needed...

New to the forum (actually, I've been lurking for a while)...
New to posting on the forum!
I've got an '07 4 door X and it's time for new tires. I'm pretty much sold on the Crager Soft 8's, but I'm having a hell of a time figuring out what tires to go with them.
I've read that 33's will work on stock (a lift is down the road). I haven't taken it off-road...yet, so I'm looking for something that will perform well on wet and dry pavement and especially snow.
I'm a newbie, so I'll probably have a few thousand follow up questions.

Oh, where can I get a couple of those those nifty JK decals??

Prost!

Default MTZs

I have a 10' Sahara and run Mickey Thompson MTZ's in 305/70/16 (33" x 12.5) and I love them. They are quite, at least with my hard top and drive like street tires.

I love my Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors. They've been an excellent blend of on-road performance (including rain) and off-road capability. They are *far* from the beefiest/most manly tire you can choose, but they're a big step up from the stock X tires in terms of looks and capability.

Here's a thread I posted shortly after I got them, including pics.

Thanks for the info JK-Tex!

I've been considering these tires as an upgrade over the stock 225 75 16s.

Still trying to decide what wheels to get though...

I have a few friends that dont off-road a whole lot but wanted a good riding and good snow tire, they all run the Toyo open country ATs and are very happy with them.

Thanks for the replies! Not sure that it's helping with my decision though.

I am running 33'' cooper stt's they are doing really well. I was surprised. They were on my jeep when I got it. I am getting ready to lift mine more and go to 35's and unfortunately cooper doesnt make 35's in this tire. I have mickey thompson mtz's on my other vehicle and will be putting them on my jk. long story short, cooper stt's or mickey thompson mtz's are both really good tires all around for me

Welcome to the forum. Here's my opinion:

1- Get mud tires. All-terrains suck offroad, especially in mud. You can't air them down. Unless you rarely offroad, I'd stay away.

2- Get BFGoodrich KMs or KM2s. Get them siped.

I siped my stock Rubicon KMs, they're very good on the snow, quite good on ice. They're at 45k km right now, tread life is great... I expect them to last 70k+. They're quiet on the road. To me, it's the smallest "compromise" for good offroad capability.
