Tire advice requested
I am a first time Jeep owner and have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler with a new Superlift 4" suspension. I now want to get tires but need help and advice from experienced drivers. I am getting Pro Comp 7189 wheels and was close to getting Pro Comp Xterrains, 35x12.5R17 tires based solely on multiple reviews in 4-Wheelin magazines that are favorable in many conditions. I will be driving my vehicle around town and probably just on dirt trails and mud. I love mud but my first experience and decision ultimatly got me buried. Gotta love it. Can you give me some personal advice on the Xterrains before I spend big bucks on new tires. My second choice was the Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ's.
Thanks
Thanks
It's a personal choice of what you like. I've had various super swampers, xterrains, and mickey's. I am running 4" superlift on my 07 JK and have 35-12.50-17 Dick Cepek fun country II. For the street and occasional off road they are the best tire I've owned....Quiet and smooth.
Have you been happy with their performance in mud? Any examples?
I was going to go with the Pro Comp Xterrains but would rather sacrifice a little on road performance for better off road performance, especially in mud.
Also, In a recent article in 4 x 4 Garage Magazine they did a review on the MTZ Radial (SLT) and rated their performance as very good but mentioned that the tread design on the SLT is different from the tread design on the "traditional sizes." Do you have any insight on this?
Thanks for replying. I noticed a lot of questions regarding tires and I'm sure some get tired of the redundacy.

I have Baja MTZ's and love them. I've been through some mud, but not "muddin".
To me, there is one factor that should sway you away from X-Terrains. Directional tire pattern. No way in hell am I having tires re-mounted when I rotate them. Unless I'm as stupid as my wife tells me I am and I don't understand how they could be rotated w/out re-mounting, then I'll never get directionals.
