OIC ... so the spacer nuts are actually open on both sides in some cases? They were not in my case but it sounds like it was here. Good to know.

Jack your JK up and check the rest of the lug nuts. They go to the dealership or parts store and buy as many wheel studs as you need to fix all the damaged studs. Then follow this little write up:
