Tire carrier question
Have a question, new to this forum so not sure now to search it on my phone, anyway I have a 2013JKU with 35"tires. The question is will the stock tire carrier and tail gate handle the extra weight, seems to be struggling on the hinges. I know my 98 wrangler handled it fine back in the day. Thanks
Your probably gonna get mixed answers on this, there's a lot of people that do it but over time the welds will more than likely break. Once you figure out how to search you'll find lots of info about this, I remember seeing where someone posted pics of the welds breaking. If your not going to be really offloading it will be fine for a while until you get a tire carrier.

My wife feels the same as yours and I have a wish list of around $5000 so far, sigh. Get used to it LOL. To the OP, I like the idea of the TF kit as it keeps it on the tailgate. I don't like the idea of having to swing a carrier out of the way just to open the tailgate. As stated, I have a financial hurdle in which I am married to and cannot get the latest and greatest rear tire carrier. My other alternative was the eBay bumper sold by eautogrills. I have their Smittybilt XRC stubby knock-off and absolutely love it. Perfect fit and finish. Good luck.

I ran my 35 on the stock carrier for around 11000 miles. I hated every minute of it, because I could see it bounce around when I hit the bumps in the road, and it rattled to no end. Put the TF carrier on, and everything is great again.
