Default Tire Choice

Need a bit of advice here.

I really want a set of Duratracs as I hear they are the shizzle! However I have the 18" Sahara wheels which I want to keep. The duratracs only come in two sizes for an 18" wheel. The size I want and think we will work LT275/70R18E1 125Q B. I do not have a lift currently but I am willing to put up with some minor rubbing until I can put a lift on her.

I did read the Answers to the Questions Every Newbie Has Tires and Wheels section but there is nothing in there about 18" wheels. To me the LT275/70R18E1 125Q B seem pretty close to 285/70R17 for the 17" wheel.

Thoughts, concerns?

That would probably measure out to under 33 inches as duratracs run small.

Here is a pic on the Sahara rims.
275/70/18

They measure 32.625" @ 35psi. Measured after leaving the tire store.

I installed the lift/wheel spacers before getting the tires. No rub.

I ran 275/70R18 Cooper STT with Gladiator rims and no lift but had to adjust the steering stops due to rubbing on the lower front control arms. Suggest Spidertrack spacers. Not only will this fix rubbing, but you will like the wider aggressive look and you benefit with lateral grip from the wider track.

I'm with Dirtman on this one. You may want to look into some 16" or 17" options. Upgrading your wheels now will certainly make things easier in the future if you plan on going with a tire larger than 33".

Are your duratracs really noisy? I am getting ready for a 12-13 hour drive to Colorado.

What size and kind spacers are you running. I want to get a 33" tire on my 18"s and i want to powder coat them flatblack.
