Default Tire choice, advice?

I can't decide between Baja claw 33x12.5 or Baja MTZ 33x12.5

I wont run in snow/ice/rock
80% on road/20% off-road(daily driver)
mostly light trail,mud
I dont care about road noise

Any advices?experiences?

I like the aggresive look of the baja claw, but Ive heard they wear out quickly compare to MTZ?

Im keeping the stock 17x7.5 moab wheel with spacers (or MT classic wheel 4.5'' BS), 12.5 wide on 7.5 wheel will be ok? will I get uncommon wear because its to wide?

thanks

The MT-Z would be a lot better for a daily driver. They wear more evenly.

The tires will wear down the center faster being on a narrower rim like that. But otherwise should be ok.

Both of these tires are about equal performing. Claw is a little better forward traction than the MTZ. MTZ has much better lateral traction (think sidehilling on wet surface and especially wet pavement) so they cancel each other out.
The claw can only be rotated front to back unless you take them off the rim and re-mount. Huge effing PITA! Claw has a better look.

May I ask why you are only locked in on Mickey's?

The MTZ's are a better choice for a DD. It will provide a smoother ride and better handling. The Baja Claw is more comparable to the BFG Krawler which is a great off road tire.

My first choice was BFG KM2 but size I want is unavaible until mid-end of april

I have a good price on MT tires because Im buying MT classic II wheels at the same time

But im open to other tire brand, which tire would best fit my need considering I dont want an A/T tire?

I'd get the MTZ. The Claws are good tires off-road, but they can be a handful for DD use. They're not horrible at all, just not as refined as the MTZ will be on the road. By that I mean stopping distances in the rain, wt grip in general, etc. They seem to wear a bit quickly too when road driven compared to other traction/MT tires.

I'm partial to the KM2s ans AT/KOs, but the Duratracs are pretty impressive as well. I almost went with them, but they didn't have the size I wanted. Seems to be a great compromise tire for someone who does a lot more road than off-road driving. I ran a demo set for 2 weeks on my Blazer (has AT KOs on it usually) and was higly impressed with them.

I had the claws on my old truck and they wore out to fast...plus they are a bitch to rotate cause they are directional tread. I got a set of Pro Comps and they worked great, I now run nothing but MasterCraft tires and won't go back to anything else!
