I have had good luck with pricing at OnlineTires.com, then having my local Discount Tire price match.

The other thing to consider is tire choice. If you aren't set on a specific tire, there are some off-brands (or not as well known or used tires, anyway?) with good reviews that will give you a significant cost savings. My last three sets were 33" nitto terra grapplers, 35" maxxis bighorns, and now 37" falken wildpeak/rocky mountain. On all three, I saved around $100/tire over bfg/goodyear in the same size. (I know that it isn't really appls to apples to compare the terra grappler or wildpeak to the km2/mtr/k which were the top tier I was comparing against, but they are all good choices considering the $500 savings each time.) Anyway, just something to think about.

I just bought a set of wheels and tires from National Tire & Wheel. They were great to work with and had a deal going for free shipping. Worth a look.

Default Kauffman Tire

Just looked up what I paid for my five 315/70R17 Duratracs on June 27th:
- mounted on my new wheels ( Mickey Thompson Performance 1794 - Mickey Thompson Classic III Wheel in Black with 5x5 Bolt Pattern in 17x9 Size & 4.5" Backspacing - Quadratec )
- lifetime balance and rotation
- TPMS transferred from old wheels
- new stems on both old and new tires
- disposal fee
- prorated road hazard warrantee
- full replacement warrantee certificate
- 7% sales tax

My price was still $126.39 LESS than Discount's total "Out the Door" price.

Where I live in Florida, tire installation and disposal fees could be an additional $103.75.

I have no idea what lifetime rotation and balance would cost if purchased separately.

Damn that is a nice looking jeep and I'm not a fan of four doors

Those 315's look a lot bigger, especially in the first shot

Just my 2 cents, The last 3 sets of tires I have purchased have been through Discount Tire or Discount Tire Direct seems it always comes down to them having the best prices, and their customers service is always nothing short of perfect.

I went with a 15 inch tire through discount tire direct. The tires and wheels were cheaper than going with just 17 inch tires and that was for Alloy wheels, not cheap steel ones (Level 8 Trackers in flat black with 35inch MTRs) I have been very very happy with this setup.

Either way if you can be patient and just wait for a good sale. I waited and I got a double rebate sale, 80 dollars rebate from Goodyear and Discount Tire matched the rebate. 160 bucks back in rebates, plus free shipping, and since I got the wheels everything came mounted and balanced. It seems they do these specials around the holidays, I got this deal 4th of July this year.

Good Luck and check out the discount tire thread in the vendors section.

Thanks for the info one the rebates/double rebates

I've been gathering all of my Jeep improvement receipts for my insurance agent and it really blew my mind how much 5 tires add up to with all the incidental fees

Yep, it all adds up. But there are deals and price matches to be had to bring it back down a bit. The certs that discount tire offers may seem like wasted money, but depending on use, (and luck?) you have to figure that with tire prices these days ($350+ each is not uncommon at all), spending an extra $25 or whatever it is for a cert can pay off. The last time I went in for a rotation, we found that 2 of my tires had cracks/punctures going down to the core. No questions asked replacements. (though I chose to pro-rate and move up to 37's instead of running 2 brand new tires with 3 half-worn tires.) Nationwide balance/rotate for the life of the tire is another big plus for Discount for me.

Honestly that's usually why end always end up at Discount. That reason alone is worth it.

On a side note....the cheapest time of year on tires coincides with the cost of fuel. If you notice when gas prices are high, so is rubber.
Right now we just hit $2.99 a gallon! WHOLLY COW!!

If it keeps going down I might be able to afford tires. LoL

I went with 4 wheel parts for 2 reasons: 1. They will match Discount's price and they had better options that fit what I wanted and 2. Their warranty is only $15 a tire and will cover off road punctures. Free replacement up to 50% tread and pro-rated after that. Fortunately for me my 4WP is only a 15 min drive, but I would have gone further for the off road warranty alone. I called the national call center and got over $850 knocked off a wheel and tire combo. 5 Pro Comp 7032 wheels, and Mickey Thompson MTZ radials 305/70/16 all for $2100
